See what makes a GOLFTEC Swing Evaluation the best way to start improving your game - with personalized coaching, 3D swing analysis, and a clear plan for long-term success.
Ask any GOLFTEC coach in Singapore what the single most common mistake they see recreational golfers make on the course and club selection will be near the top of the list. Most amateur golfers consistently underclub - they take the club that gets them to the hole when they hit their best shot, not their average shot.
Know Your Real Distances
Do you know how far you actually hit your 7-iron? Not your best shot - your average carry distance. Most golfers overestimate their distances by ten to fifteen percent. Spend time on a range with a launch monitor to find your real numbers.
Play to the Middle of the Green
Unless you are a low handicapper, the right strategy on most approach shots is to aim for the middle of the green. A flag tucked by a bunker or at the back of a narrow green is not a realistic target for a ten to twenty handicapper. Middle of the green gives you the biggest margin for error.
Account for Wind and Elevation
Singapore's coastal courses often have sea breezes that affect club selection more than golfers realise. A headwind of fifteen to twenty kilometres per hour can easily cost you one full club.
Take More Club, Swing Easy
When in doubt between two clubs, take the longer one and swing at eighty percent. A smooth swing with a longer club will almost always outperform a hard swing with a shorter one.
