Why Augusta National Is One of the Hardest Golf Courses in the World

When you hear the words Swing Evaluation, it is understandable to assume that GOLFTEC is a place for established golfers who already have a swing and want to improve it. After all, how can you evaluate a golf swing if you have never played before?

The reality is that GOLFTEC Singapore is just as suitable for someone picking up a golf club for the first time as it is for an experienced golfer looking to lower their handicap. The process may look a little different depending on your experience, but the objective is the same: to understand where you are now, identify what you need to work on and provide a clear plan to help you reach your goals. That applies whether you have never set foot on a driving range in Singapore or you already play regularly on the island's courses.

For the Established Golfer: Understand Your Game

For an established golfer, the Swing Evaluation process actually begins a couple of days before you arrive at the centre. Your coach will contact you for a Pre Evaluation phone call, giving them the opportunity to learn about your golfing history, current frustrations and what you hope to achieve. This initial conversation helps your coach understand your situation before you even pick up a club.

When you arrive at GOLFTEC, you will be welcomed into the centre, introduced to the technology and given time to warm up. Once you are ready, you will hit enough shots for your coach to establish a picture of your current performance. Whether you are striking the ball consistently or struggling to find the middle of the clubface, this provides a useful starting point.

The next step is to ASSESS your performance. Using the data collected, your coach will identify where you are struggling to execute the fundamental skills of golf: contact, power and direction. Rather than relying solely on what a shot looks or feels like, you can begin to understand what is actually happening.

From there, your coach will use a combination of technologies to ANALYSE your swing and identify the movements and positions contributing to your current performance. This is an important part of the process because understanding the cause of a problem is the first step towards finding an effective solution.

The session then moves into COACHING. You will have the opportunity to experience your coach's teaching style, understand how they communicate and see how their guidance can help you make improvements. This is also your chance to experience what learning at GOLFTEC feels like.

Finally, your coach will provide a RECOMMENDATION. Based on your current ability, goals and the improvements required, they will outline a suitable lesson and practice plan. The intention is to give you clarity on what needs to happen next and how you can work towards your goals.

For the Beginner: Build the Right Foundations

If you have never played golf before, the process is slightly different. You may not have an established swing to analyse, and that is absolutely fine. In fact, this is an excellent opportunity to begin learning with the right guidance from the outset.

Rather than spending too much time analysing movements that you have not yet developed, the session places greater emphasis on EDUCATION and COACHING.

One of the first things you will learn is how to make contact with the golf ball. It might sound simple, but consistently striking a small ball with a club that is travelling at speed is a skill that takes time to develop. Your coach will introduce you to the basic principles of contact and explain how your set up influences your chances of striking the ball successfully.

You will then begin working on the movements required to produce solid contact with a small swing. Your coach will help you understand what to focus on, provide feedback on your attempts and guide you towards a movement pattern that gives you a foundation for future development.

As you progress, your coach may also begin introducing the concept of generating speed. Once you have started to develop the ability to strike the ball consistently, learning how to produce more speed will help you understand how to hit the ball further. The focus will always depend on your ability and how you respond to the coaching, rather than trying to introduce too much too soon.

Just as with an established golfer, the session concludes with a RECOMMENDATION. Your coach will explain what they believe you need to work on and suggest a lesson and practice plan that suits your starting point and ambitions.

Why Technology Matters When You Are Learning

One of the biggest advantages of starting your golf journey at GOLFTEC is the opportunity to learn through evidence based practice.

For a beginner, it can be difficult to know whether you have made a good swing. The ball might travel further on one shot than another, but that does not necessarily mean the movement was better. Without reliable feedback, it is easy to develop habits based on guesswork.

At GOLFTEC, technology helps provide a clearer picture of what happens on every shot. Your coach can use the available data and video feedback to explain what you are doing well, where you need to improve and how changes to your movement influence the outcome. This gives you something more useful than simply being told to try again.

It also helps you understand why you are being asked to make a particular change. When you can connect a feeling or movement with an observable result, you have a better opportunity to learn, build confidence and make progress.

The same principles apply to experienced golfers. Technology can help identify the reasons behind inconsistent contact, poor direction or a lack of distance, allowing practice to become more purposeful. Regardless of your starting point, the objective is to make sure you understand what you are working on and why.

Your Golf Journey Starts Here

Golf can be a challenging game to learn, particularly when you are trying to work everything out on your own. Starting with a coach who can provide clear instruction, objective feedback and a structured plan can make the process more enjoyable and productive.

Equally, if you have been playing for years but feel that your progress has stalled, a Swing Evaluation can help you understand what is holding you back and what you need to do about it.

At GOLFTEC, you do not need to arrive with a good swing, a handicap or even any previous experience. You simply need a desire to learn and improve.

Regardless of your level of golf, a Swing Evaluation is a great first step towards understanding your game and building a plan to reach your goals.
